Overlooking the harbour in Dungarvan. The Moorings has been at the vanguard of Dungarvans renaissance in recent years. Mixing maritime decor, with its portholes and woodwork, a B&B bar food, a sit down restaurant that resembles an intimate candle lit cave and a smoking area overlooked by King Johns Castle that is the envy of the South East. By now its a rare visitor that doesn't come pre-armed with a recommendation (listed as one of Irelands 5 Best Gastro Pubs Independent Review 2008)
Bar food ranges from Tiger Prawns to fresh Crab claws, Pasta, Beer and Chicken. The restaurant offers Monkfish, Cod, Mussels, Duck, Steaks and many more excellent dishes. You can eat indoors or al fresco in the Beer Garden. This family run establishment has been a favourite of many for years and continues to offer all visitors an excellent friendly and enjoyable visit. Regular live music indoors and bands in the garden entertain all summer.
Our beer garden if overlooked on one side by King Johns Castle. A large retractable awning protects in unfavourable weather and retracts to allow our customers to sit back relax and enjoy the sunshine. The whole area is heated by overhead gas heaters allowing for all year round parties and gatherings. This area can hold up to 250 people and also an open air section that will fit a further 150 people. BBQ's and buffets, small weddings and birthday parties are regular events. 6 bedrooms upstairs accommodate many guests who like to be anchored in the pulse of things. The Moorings has everything to offer
The market town of Dungarvan offers many clothes shops and has a large shopping centre with many different outlet stores. The town boasts 3 Golf Courses each of which has been excellently designed. There is a beautiful Blue flag beach 8 minutes from the town centre and many beautiful forest and mountain walks all on the outskirts of the town.
