Some of Irelands best golf courses are within easy reach. Clonmel Golf Club is an 18 hole, par 72, parkland club set in the scenic slopes of the Comeragh Mountains. It is a testing course with features abounding.
The River Suir, which runs alongside Clonmel, holds good stock of Brown Trout and also offers impressive Salmon fishing. The river has been described by eminent angling journalists as "an anglers paradise".
Make your way on horseback through the winding forest paths and slopes of the Nire Valley to indoor and large all weather arenas in one of the Equestrian Centers. Clonmel has several local riding centers and is nearby to Coolmore Stud, a horse breeding and racing empire.
Walkers who enjoy the heights will find plenty of opportunities to climb over hills and mountains. Easy routes are found on Slievenamon, imortalised by the song "In the valley of Slievenamon", while more challenging walks are found over the Comeragh, Knockmealdown and Galtee Mountains.
