Spillane's is a busy, friendly, laid-back bar & restaurant situated in one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. It was built in 1875 by Tom Spillane and has remained in the family ever since.
Now run by Michael and Marilyn, Spillane's started serving food in 1975 and from small beginnings now serve an extensive menu incluing chargrilled Irish Steaks, Fresh Local Seafood, and a range of homemade soups, cakes, breads, stews and desserts. Spillane's are members of The Seafood Circle of Ireland and recommended by Georgina Campbell Guides.
We offer table service, a bar menu, and an early-bird menu until 7pm Weekdays. We have outside seating for fine summer days when nothing is better than sitting out with a pint or a glass of wine and a plate of local crab claws while watching the sun set over Brandon Bay.
Spillane's is situated at the end of The Maharees Peninsula. The area is heaven for the outdoor enthusiast. It offers worldclass windsurfing, kiting, surfing and diving conditions. There is a local PADI dive-centre and RYA windsurf and surf school.
Castlegregory Golf and Fishing club is a lovely 9-hole links course overlooking the surf at Brandon Bay.
The miles of sandy beaches are perfect for horse-riding, walking and fishing. Boats can be charted from the local pier for fishing trips or to visit 'Illauntannig' one of the Maharee islands with an ancient monastic settlement.
The surrounding mountains, including Mount Brandan, offer stunning climbing, hillwalking and mountain-biking opportunities. The views of the surrounding Kerry countryside are breathtaking on a clear day.
We are only 1 hr from Killarney and a 1/2 hour from either Tralee or Dingle.
The Maharees has plenty of accommodation choices with Self-Catering holiday homes, B&B' s, and caravan parks. Local taxi services are always available to take you home.
