About Us
West Waterford's hidden gem, ideally located just outside Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, off the N25 to Youghal and Cork. An Seanachaí is a charming old world pub and restaurant that has been meticulously restored to its former glory by proprietors Johnnie and Mags Hurley. The immaculate thatched roof transports one back in time and the warm welcoming open fireplace draws you in.
An Seanachaí started its life as a Public House in 1846 when John Kett opened his front room to serve food and drink to weary mourners as they buried their dead in the adjoining famine graveyard. Today An Seanachaí continues the tradition of serving up the finest food and drink to weary travellers. In this hectic time one can find peace and tranquillity at An Seanachaí.
An Seanachaí offers good wholesome food produced from locally sourced produce. The long bar is ideal for a quick pint and easy chat. We have a courtyard which is ideal for Summer parties and barbeques.
Our Restaurant, which can seat 80, is open seven days a week and can be booked for private parties. An Seanachaí offers old world charm and a warm inviting place to relax and enjoy your food and drink.
There are also twelve self-catering holiday cottages adjacent to An Seanachaí - it is an ideal location to explore West Waterford and East Cork.
