About Us

Welcome to The Corner House, one of the finest of old traditional Irish pubs and one of the best known pubs in County Cork. Recommended by Georgina Campbell's Ireland 2010 The Guide

The Corner House is a traditional West Cork Bar, virtually unchanged in over 100 years. Established in the late 19th Century, T. J. Newman’s is a fixture on the Schull landscape. Occupying the western corner of Main Street and Pier Road it has been a favourite of visitors to Schull for decades whether they arrive by road or sea. Owned by Bridie & John D’Alton since 2003, the Corner House is still a safe harbour for those seeking sanctuary, be it from the sun or the rain.

A traditional West Cork welcome awaits you in this haven of Irish hospitality.

The Corner House is everything the traditional Irish pub should be. Small, cosy and friendly with a welcome from staff and customers alike.

A favourite for those who like to socialise in traditional surroundings, The Corner House is also a popular venue for sing-songs, impromptu trad. sessions, late night discos and the occasional operatic aria.

By popular acclaim, we serve the best pints, not only in Schull, but in all of Cork. We know what our customers like and we know how to serve it to them.
