About Us

The Cloch Bán Public House is on the busy N30, halfway between Enniscorthy and New Ross in the rural award winning village of Clonroche - voted Wexford's Tidiest Village 2008 in the heart of County Wexford.  This pub is of the highest standard being voted "Wexford in Bloom Pub of the Year" on six occasions and Pub of Distinction. 

A fourth generation family-run premises, The Cloch Bán has been an Ale House since 1650 and was used as a horse changing station for the famous Biarconi Coaches Run on their Dublin to Clonmel Route.

The Cloch Bán Bar & Lounge is a renowned meeting spot for sportsmen and women of all sporting activities.  Also a stopping off point for various teams going to and coming from matches as it has spacious car parking facilities

The Public Bar:

It is known as the 'Liars Bar', which is very cosy and old, style with an open fire and ideal for a quiet drink and chat.  At the drop of a hat a traditional music session could start with excellent local talent of All-Ireland calibre taking part as well as customer participation, which adds to the friendliness of anyone's visit.

The Lounge:

It is semi-circular in shape and has a dance floor and open fire, ideal for all functions and can cater for up to 200 people.  The summer months sees music and talent competition mid-week, which draws a huge crowd.  It is used extensively by various organisations and individuals for functions and fund raising events with huge success, as we built up a reputation in this field over the years with excellent staff to look after you.

Daily Lunches:

Lunches are served with the finest of locally produced food form the lands of the model county of Wexford, which is noted for its farming excellence.  We also have a games room - off the main lounge are that caterers for a variety of games and pastimes and also have satellite sports channel.  Both the proprietors and staff are personally involved in sports such as GAA, equestrian sports, rugby, soccer, greyhound and horse racing. 

Both the 'Liars Bar' and the Lounge are very tastefully laid out and have many local and historic pictures and memorabilia, which are of huge interest to all our patrons and visitors alike.  Many famous national and international personalities from all walks of like have crossed our threshold down the years which adds to our popularity.

Car Park:

There is a spacious private enclosed car park at the rear of the pub which also has a beer garden, used during the summer months for Barbecues and various outdoor facilities.  The smoking area is set in our award winning 'Wexford in Bloom' gardens, which were featured in many publications from TV, radio, press etc. for their colour and design.

Events:  We have our Annual Talent Competition in The Cloch Bán Lounge commencing the second Wednesday night in June and every Wednesday night finishing with the Grand Final in the first week of September which is in it's 23rd year catering for singers, dancers, comedians, recitations, musicians etc. accompanied by Theresa & The Stars with Tony Kehoe of South East Radio fame.

We have live music every Saturday and Sunday night.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann hold a monthly session in the Liars Bar on the second Monday ngiht of each month, all are welcome.

The Annual Vintage Run & Rally is a big crowd puller each year as is the Annual Gain Clonroche Gymkhana.

It is said "that the only thing that travels faster than the horses or dogs in the Liars Bar at The Cloch Bán is the hurling balls and footballs".

Local Attractions

These include - A ramble in Clonroche's award winning Millennium Park which was nominated to represent Ireland in the world event - finishing a gallant second. 

Also locally we have an excellent Quad Attack course on the famous Ballinclay Hill, which has hosted numerous All Ireland Events. 

There is also an Animal Adventure Park, which is well worth a visit, as is a walk down the award winning John's Lane which is in the centre of Clonroche Village. 

The area is well catered for with various shopping outlets - supermarkets, drapery, hair & beauty salons, garden centres and our local post office.
